Community Service Day

Nearly 300 volunteers set an example on Saturday, May 15, as they helped to spruce up their neighborhoods. They headed out across Covina tackling a number of projects for Community Service Day. Volunteers from Covina Assembly of God and three other local churches donated their time. Some of the larger assignments included painting the Parks and Recreation Hall in Covina Park, clearing a lot for a future Habitat for Humanity housing site, and performing repairs at a foster care agency.

Just in Time

A time-tested plot in books or TV shows is one in which there is a great tragedy or calamity about to occur, but just at the right moment a hero emerges and saves the day. Without fail, God arrived on time. His timing is perfect.

Live as a Free Person

Jesus said that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life and will not be condemned (John 5:24). When we enter into relationship with Him, we have “crossed over from death to life.” We are no longer bound by the sins of the past or by the old nature. Instead, we are new creations in Christ and freed by His love to live the life God created us to live.

Be Patient

There are times when we need God to move to fulfill our plans and our timetables. But God moves according to His will, and His timing is always perfect. We need to learn to move with God and to be patient. Proverbs 14:29 tells us that “a patient man has great understanding” (NIV).

Fear the Lord

Proverbs tells us that the fear of the Lord will bring blessing and save our lives. Fear in this sense does not mean to be afraid but that we will respect, honor, worship, and obey God.
